is a Virgo. She likes animals and long walks on the beach; her turn-offs include mean people, and her turn-ons include Linux. Drawing has been a lifetime
pretense for her; she began her first regular comic at the tender age of 10, and it really was quite horrid. She likes to think she has gotten marginally better at drawing since then.
was first conceived in 2004. In its first incarnation, it was a comic based on Ash's "learning and character-building experiences" working for tech services. The main character wore a plaid skirt and legwarmers,
and worked alongside a network specialist with fake elf ears who spoke only in Quenya, a guy with a bleached goatee who spoke in 1337, and a few somewhat more normal people. Although she would never be short on punchline fodder, the project was eventually scrapped.
Ash had been toying with several different comics (one based on an RPG, and another coloring, and even drawing a few, for a friend's comic) when she actually decided to get off her lazy ass and actually do something. Despite a rocky attempt with several drawing styles and possible scriptwriting partners, the comic is actually being updated on (hopefully) a regular Tuesday/Thursday basis.
Of course, let us not forget LinuxGuy Dom.. because, as we all know, you don't really have a webcomic until you enlist one of your smartass
friends with no artistic talent whatsoever to dick around on the site when the artist is too busy/lazy/angsty to update. Not to mention, it also helps that he practically runs a good deal of the technical aspects of the site.. and he would revoke Ash's bandwidth if she did not mention him here.
And this is how the Book of Root came to be in its present state. A semblance of plot should be coming.. eventually.
The book of root also employs several RSS feeds. You can get the main one for
the news and comics Here, and you can get the community RSS feed from livejournal Here.
